Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC)

After an exhausting day touring the city, it may be a good idea to kick back, relax and watch one of the latest blockbusters gracing our screens. Fortunately for visitors, Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall is home to Golden Screen Cinemas which show everything from Western blockbusters to Bollywood flicks.

Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) is the largest chain of cinemas in Malaysia.

It was founded in 1981 as Golden Communications Circuit, while the other, Cathay is the one of the oldest cinemas in Malaysia until 1998. Golden Screen Cinemas was founded in 1998 as a merger of Golden Communications (GC) Circuit and Cathay Cinemas.Cathay Cinemas was later revived in Malaysia in 2004 as Cathay Cineplexes, which was formerly known as Mega Pavilion Cinemas. Mega Pavilion Cinemas, which was re-named Cathay Cineplexes Sdn Bhd in September 2004, became an integral part of Cathay Cineplexes’ operations when its parent company, Cathay Organisation Holdings Ltd, acquired the entire share capital of Cathay Organisation Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd in 2002.

Housed in the biggest shopping mall in Malacca, this cineplex scores on locality. Four screening halls of average seating capacity showcase mainstream Hollywood and Cantonese flicks
